Pat Moore & The Vinyl Frontier

Pat Moore sings a country song like it should be sung. Says Larry Delaney (Country Music News), “Moore pours her heart and soul” into her performance. Patrick Langston (The Ottawa Citizen) talks of how she “dissects pain with warmth and clear-sightedness. Her full, clear voice is enriched by often-lush backing vocals that underscore the singer’s emotional isolation.”

Born in Ottawa, Pat Moore’s influences are wide and varied, from country and bluegrass to traditional jazz and “roots” music. Her interpretative style and warm strong voice captures the listeners’ attention and her live performances have a natural spontaneity, picking up the mood of the audience and presenting each song in a personal and entertaining way.

Pat was a founding member of the popular bluegrass band Maple Hill in the 1980’s, where she was known as a dynamic doghouse “slap” bass player, singing heart wrenching leads, and strong harmonies, and later a founding member of Beyond the Blue – with brothers Ray and Glen Adams. In later years she earned a reputation as a song writer, solo performer, and band leader in the acoustic roots and country scene. In 2005, CHIP Radio’s “Ottawa Valley Round-Up” listeners, voted “Musician of the Year”, followed by “Female Vocalist of the Year” in 2006.

Her much acclaimed debut album “The Time’s Never Been Better” has been followed up with a heart and soul wrenching country album “Take it to Heart”. (Pat showcased the title track at the Ottawa Valley Country Music Hall of Fame show in2004 to much enthusiastic applause.) Says Allan Wigney (Ottawa Sun), Take it to Heart is “a track that would indeed sound at home on either of (Ray) Charles’ seminal early – 1960’s Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music albums – could wing its way to the legend. But the song served as a worthy starting point for Moore’s latest CD, a collection of songs that pay homage to the sound, style and feel of country pop’s golden age.”

The Vinyl Frontier

Bringing to life the sounds of the 1950’s – 1960’s country pop is Pat Moore’s band The Vinyl Frontier, featuring Al Bragg, a well known inductee of the Ottawa Valley Country Music Hall of Fame who toured with Carol Baker, The Family Brown, and several other bands. Nominated on more than one occasion as CCMA Steel Guitar Player of the year, Al has also enjoyed a Juno nomination. In the Vinyl Frontier, Al will take you back to the early days of country pop on the Pedal Steel Guitar, Piano, Dobro, and his bass vocal – a playful dimension to the band’s sound. On acoustic and electric guitars, Pat McLaughlin is always delighting the audience with his skill and tasty licks. Local audiences may have seen Pat in the past backing up Rick and Val, or Jason Roose, among others. Pat adds much of the vocal harmony to the music as well, bringing a warm full sound to the country duets, trios, and quartets. On upright bass and vocal harmony is Ann Downey, who brings a great Texas swing to the sound. Ann also plays with The Toasted Westerns, and the acclaimed trio Finest Kind. On drums…the steady and tasteful Bob Bangs, who has earned a reputation of being one of the finest drummers you will find.
